Project Description:
As part of the Homeland Security initiative, the Surveying Engineering Division worked in conjunction with Mass GIS and 3Di Corporation to verify a 3-d model developed through the use of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) mapping of Greater Boston within Route 128.
Using LIDAR mapping, 3Di out of Colorado prepared a wire frame model of the Greater Boston area for Mass GIS. This model will potentially be used for assessment of risk areas by simulating various scenarios such as the catastrophic destruction of a building or a chemical weapon attack.
Coler & Colantonio, Inc. surveyed locations that were used by 3Di to verify their wire frame model and used as an independent check by Mass GIS
